Leading Leaders Network Meeting Spring 2017 – Brighton

“The best schools in the country know that teachers are their most important resource and that developing the professional capital of their staff is key. Formal mechanisms such as the classroom observation are just one strand in our armoury, but unless the feedback is delivered in a way which is easily understood and timely, little is learned. Teaching is complex and difficult, posing formidable challenges for designing dynamic learning programmes. A method that works in one context will play out differently in another because of the differences in staff, culture and relationships. So, the Leading Leaders Spring Term Programme is delighted to share how video technology can support schools in reflecting on practice purposefully, access brilliant teaching and share expertise.

People are motivated by good ideas tied to action; they are energized even more by pursuing action with others; they are spurred on still further by learning from their mistakes; and they are ultimately propelled by actions that make an impact what we call ‘moral imperative realized’. (p.7)

CPD at its best !

The foundations of our programme will begin with a visit to the office of Iris Connect. Here we will look at the research and learn how professional conversations can be enriched through ‘Film Club.’

Building on from our learning at Iris Connect we will visit two schools, City Academy Whitehawk and Patcham High school to see how technology has generally shaped their practice and in particular video technology has developed effective feedback, unleashing the power of teachers.

The hotel that we have chosen for the Spring Term visit is the Premier Inn Brighton City Centre.

For those of you arriving early on Sunday this hotel is perfectly located with the lavish Royal Pavilion and buzzing Pier, to the lively lanes and brilliant boutiques, right on the doorstep. On Monday night we will be having our dinner at Al Duomo; situated next door to the Royal Pavilion it is one of Brighton’s most popular and long established Italian restaurants.

Following our visits to the schools we will return to the Hotel where we will have a round-up session with lunch before departing for home.
