Before the Christmas festivities are upon us, we have an exciting Leading Leaders Autumn Event planned. Our base will be the Holiday Inn Fareham – midway between our two host schools. This time, the first day will be based at Wildern School in Southampton hosted by one of our former LLN members, Kate Broadribb.
Wildern School is built on three key words; CARE, OPPORTUNITY and QUALITY. They are a National Teaching School who believe passionately in quality education for all, with the motto ‘No child left behind’. They play a significant role in ensuring this both within their own community and beyond. Technology is embedded in the school’s curriculum and its innovative use has been acknowledged widely. Kate, our host, has a wealth of experience and is always inspirational to listen to – certainly over the years I have gained a great deal!
On Tuesday we will be visiting The Federation of Riders Infant and Junior school. In the finishing stages of some major building work, our host, Ian Addison, who joined the school two years ago will take us through the developments and challenges in integrating technology into this newly federated school, his use of Google Classroom and their inspirational ‘No pens day’ event. Ian has supported many schools using technology for learning in Hampshire.
Whist we all believe that e-safety should be integrated throughout the year, National Safer Internet Day follows shortly after the Christmas festivities on Tuesday 7th February 2017. Each school will therefore give a short presentation about their approach and we will have some useful materials to take back to our various organisations.
Every time we meet, we try to find a pleasant hotel that is also convenient for transportation. The hotel that we have chosen is the Holiday Inn Fareham Solent http://www.hifarehamhotel.co.uk/
The spacious bedrooms all include double beds, flat screen tv, and free wifi. If you are coming by train, the hotel is only 2.5 miles from Fareham Railway Station! If you are coming by car then parking is free.
